Andre Finn
Chief Executive Officer
Andre is the co-founder of Sciemus who has worked on the company since it’s inception in 2002. Andre worked in Investment Banking for eight years, he then undertook four years academic and work-based research in understanding knowledge led strategies within different industry sectors. This included supporting an Oxford doctoral thesis on information usage in the non-life insurance industry. From this research he co-founded Sciemus with Neil Fleming with the aim of improving underwriting competitiveness through the application of cutting edge information handling and modelling techniques. Andre guest lectures and teaches at Cranfield and Oxford Universities and has an MBA from Ashridge and a BSc from Imperial College, London.

Neil Fleming
Chief Technology Officer
Neil is the Chief Technical Officer for Sciemus and is responsible for the continued technological developments the company makes in modelling analytics. He is the co-founder of Sciemus, has an MBA from the Said Business School, University of Oxford and an engineering degree from Cambridge University. Before founding Sciemus Neil was an RAF Officer and an Intelligence Analyst with the UK MoD.

Keith Taylor
Operations Director
Keith joined Sciemus as Operations Director in July 2006. He is responsible for all administrative and operational matters within Sciemus and is also the Company Secretary.· Prior to joining Sciemus he was a British Army Officer and then went on to work in a number of commercial organisations in a variety of financial and operational roles. Keith has a BSc (Econ) from the University of Wales in Management Studies, and is a Chartered Management Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

Matt Webster
Business Development Director
Matt joined Sciemus in July 2011 as Business Development Director responsible for continuing and diversifying the commercial applications of Sciemus scientific and analytical capabilities. Prior to joining Sciemus Matt spent 10 years trading derivatives before becoming a founding member of specialist news company Total Derivatives in 2000, which he helped to take from a start-up to eventual acquisition by a major financial publisher in 2007. Matt has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Ashridge Business School.

Paul Aitchison
Director of Space Insurance
Paul joined Sciemus in January 2012 as Director of Space Insurance. Paul is responsible for Space Risk Underwriting and the growth of consulting and technical review of risks for Sciemus Space. Prior to joining, Paul was a founder of Kane Group, which has grown to be the world's largest independent insurance and captive management firm. Paul has 25 years experience as a Space and Aviation Broker at Willis Group and Benfield and has been involved with Sciemus since the company's foundation, placing the original reinsurance capacity supporting Sciemus Space. Paul has an MBA from Henley Management College focused on the electronic distribution and mediation of Space and Aviation risks.
Supporting our management team are the developers, managers and technical officers handling the day-to-day running of the business and assisting in the development, maintenance and operation of our Sciemus Risk Analysis Tools or "RATs" modelling technology.

Ben Trayhorn
Head of Technical Operations
Ben joined Sciemus as part of the technical development and operations team in 2008. He now leads technical operations, maintaining and developing the technical capability in insurance risk assessment, as well as providing expertise in spacecraft engineering, power generation and risk assessment to the Sciemus' business. Ben previously spent 7 years working for QinetiQ in the Space department, on procurement and operations of spacecraft for the UK MoD as well spacecraft insurance assessment for Sciemus. He has a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southampton where he specialised in astronautics and as part of his work in the power generation business he is completing his doctoral thesis from on the applications of reliability modelling for insurance risk assessment.

Ashley Boyd-Lee
Head of Coding
Ashley joined Sciemus in May 2011 as Head of Coding. He is responsible for the implementation of calculation engines and the architecture of UI for Sciemus technology. Ashley is a chartered engineer, has a PhD in Materials Science from Cambridge University and a Bsc in Physics from Aberystwyth University. Prior to joining Sciemus, he spent 17 years working for QinetiQ where his roles included leader of the Aeroengine Lifing Team and of a Software Development Team. Ashley has also spent 5 years at Cambridge University as joint MoD/Rolls-Royce Research Associate developing the world’s first microstructural-scale model of fatigue in high strength alloys capable of life prediction.

Nick Oswald
Space Underwriter
Nick joined Sciemus October 2009 and is responsible for technical assessments and reviewing risks. Prior to joining Sciemus he completed a BSc at Imperial College, London where he read Mathematics and in 2009 completed the MSc course in Astronautics & Space Engineering at Cranfield University. Nick was responsible for the thermal design of several interplanetary spacecraft as part of the Cranfield University Titan Explorer (CUTE) team, and chose 'The Interplanetary Superhighway and Invariant Manifold Theory' as the subject for his MSc thesis.

Martin Thomas
Business Development & Marketing Manager
Martin joined Sciemus in September 2010 to manage new business ventures and operations along with facilitating external marketing communications and the development of the Sciemus brand. Martin has a BA (Hons) in Business Management from Kingston Upon Thames University and previously worked as Marketing Coordinator for digital entertainment publisher Electronic Arts.

Robin Balma
Data Architect
Robin joined Sciemus in January 2011 as Data Architect responsible for the design and implementation of strategies and methodologies to maintain and improve the quality of management and flow of information used in Sciemus risk analysis technologies. Robin will also be heading up the design and implementation of spatial solutions for Sciemus models. Robin has a BA (High Hons) in Geography from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and joins Sciemus after having worked at a number of companies including QinetiQ and Autodesk where he provided data management consultancy into a variety of sectors including Insurance, Central Government, Utilities and Defence.

Noelle Evans
Power Technical Officer
Noelle joined Sciemus as a Power Technical Officer in May 2010 and is responsible for reviewing power insurance risks and running the Sciemus Power Risk Analysis Tool (PowerRAT). Prior to joining Sciemus she worked for Beca Group Limited, New Zealand, for two years as a consultant process engineer working predominantly on wastewater and energy infrastructure projects. Noelle has a Masters in Engineering Management in which she wrote a thesis in the Commercial and Intellectual Properties of a newly developed and patented Solid Phase PEGylation technique, and a Bachelor in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

Colm Sheedy
Power Technical Officer
Colm joined Sciemus as Power Technical Officer in July 2009 and is responsible for reviewing power insurance risks and running the Sciemus Power Risk Analysis Tool (PowerRAT). Colm has a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin in which he based his thesis on the spectrum of fractured energy in structured and mechanical engineering.

James Ingham
Renewables Technical Officer
James joined Sciemus as Renewables Technical Officer in November 2009 and is responsible for delivering the WindRAT modelling tool to market. James has an MSc in Organisational Knowledge from Cranfield University and is currently on a Sciemus sponsored Engineering Doctorate (EngD) at Cranfield, basing his thesis on the process of internalising external knowledge sets into centralised repositories.
