In 2010 Sciemus was delighted to announce the creation of a new partnership to build on its highly successful track record in satellite insurance. The new arrangements involve the creation of a specialist services company, Sciemus Space Insurance Services Limited (SSISL) with Montpelier Holdings Limited. SSISL acts as a technical and insurance service provider to a consortium of insurers. The consortium is lead by Montpelier Re in Bermuda with capacity of $30m.

Sciemus has an enviable track record in space, having established itself as the leading provider of analytical, technical and insurance services to the satellite industry via its previous relationship with Liberty Syndicates as part of Libsat. The creation of the new Sciemus space consortium will allow the market continued access to Sciemus’ market leading analytic capability and to benefit from the unique insight provided by SpaceRAT, Sciemus’ proprietary model that evaluates the component specific risk of each satellite.

From inception, our insurance offering has evolved into becoming one of the largest satellite insurers in the world driven by an ability to analyse and quantify risk to a level of granularity that gives comfort to both the insured’s and our risk capital providers.
